Overview

Yaps On Record ("we," "us," "our") operates tristonscales.co. We respect your privacy and want you to understand what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Email addresses: collected when you subscribe to our newsletter, submit music, apply to write, join Take The Mic, or send a press inquiry.
Submission content: tracks, links, bios, articles, images, video links, and descriptions you provide.
Account information: name, email, and profile data when you create an account to manage contributor profiles, Club membership, or submissions.
Payment information: processed securely by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Usage data: pages viewed, device type, browser information, and approximate location through standard analytics and similar technologies.

How We Use Your Information

To send newsletters, Club updates, and editorial announcements.
To review music, writing, and Take The Mic applications and, if selected, to publish on the site, newsletter, YouTube, Instagram, or playlists.
To manage accounts, Club access, and contributor profiles.
To process payments for sample packs, merch, and Club subscriptions.
To respond to press inquiries, brand partnerships, and collaboration requests.
To improve the site, understand what content resonates, measure page views, and help protect site services.

Cookies and Embedded Content

Essential site functions support account access, purchases, security, and the preferences needed to run the site. Our Privacy choices control stores only your optional category choices, a consent version, and a timestamp in this browser. Third-party embeds like YouTube videos, Substack newsletter embeds, and Spotify players may set their own cookies or use similar browser storage. You can block cookies in your browser, but some features may not work.

Advertising and Measurement

Google Analytics and Google AdSense are optional services on this site. Google Analytics loads only after you explicitly allow analytics in the Privacy choices control. The AdSense library loads only after you explicitly allow advertising. The site currently has no AdSense display units and does not enable Auto ads. AdSense publisher metadata and our ads.txt entry remain separate from ad loading for site ownership and review.

Choose what runs

Essential functions stay on. You can separately allow analytics and advertising or keep both optional categories off.

When enabled, Google and advertising partners may process cookies, local storage, device and browser signals, approximate location, pages viewed, referral information, ad interactions, and measurement events. These technologies may support usage measurement, ad measurement, frequency controls, security, and fraud prevention. The site does not send form values or comment content to Google through these services.

Personalized and non-personalized ads

Personalized ads can use activity or inferred interests to make an ad selection more relevant, subject to consent and applicable controls. Non-personalized ads use context such as the page topic and broad information such as general location, rather than past activity to tailor the ad selection. The choices available to you depend on the service, your region, and your browser or device settings.

To change or withdraw your choice, use the always-available Privacy choices button in the site footer or the button above. Saving a change updates the site's Google Consent Mode signals and loads only the services you allowed. Turning a category off removes its dynamically added script where possible, but JavaScript cannot erase third-party cookies already stored in your browser. You can also clear browser storage, block third-party cookies, or reset advertising identifiers. Repeat these steps on each browser or device as needed.

Regional limitation: This first-party control is not Google-certified and is not IAB TCF-compliant. Google requires a Google-certified Consent Management Platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework for personalized advertising in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. That separate certified setup is still required before personalized ads are served in those regions.

We work with trusted services to run the site:

Google Analytics and Google AdSense: optional measurement and advertising services. Analytics loads only after you allow analytics. The AdSense library loads only after you allow advertising. No ad units or Auto ads are enabled.
Stripe: payment processing for merch, sample packs, and Club. See Stripe Privacy Policy.
Substack: newsletter delivery and archive.
YouTube / Vimeo: video embeds for essays and breakdowns.
Spotify / Apple Music embeds: playlist previews.
Supabase / Buildy: authentication, database, and hosting.

Data Retention and Security

We keep contact and submission records as long as needed to operate Yaps On Record, comply with legal obligations, and honor ongoing licenses for published work. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no system is 100% secure.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. You may also ask us to explain how an optional advertising or measurement choice can be changed.
