A practical notice process
Yaps On Record publishes original commentary, contributor work, submitted links, images, video, embeds, and reader conversations. We take credible copyright concerns seriously and review them privately. This page explains what to send and what may happen next.
For electronic notices or counter-notices, email trissscales@gmail.com or use the form below. We do not ask you to upload identity documents.
1. Ownership and permission
Triston Scales, Yaps On Record, contributors, artists, labels, photographers, and other rights holders may own or control different material on this site. Ownership stays with the applicable rights holder. A public link, embed, excerpt, screenshot, or submission does not automatically give the site permission to use it beyond the permission or license that applies.
People who submit music, writing, images, or video are responsible for having the rights and permissions described in the Submission Terms. This policy is a separate path for suspected infringement involving public pages or material connected to the site.
2. What to include in a notice
A useful notice identifies the work, the exact site material, and the person authorized to report it. Please provide the claimant name, a working contact email, your rights-holder or authorized-agent role, a description of the original work, the exact URL or URLs at issue, the action you request, the two confirmations in the form, and a typed signature.
Give the original work URL if one exists. If there is no public original-work link, describe the work precisely. Link-based reports are enough for this first review path. Do not send passports, government IDs, contracts, private stems, or other sensitive files.
3. Good faith and accuracy
A notice should be made in good faith, with a reasonable belief that the identified use is not authorized by the rights holder, an authorized agent, or the law. The sender must confirm that the information is accurate and that they are the rights holder or authorized to act for the rights holder.
Submitting a notice does not decide the legal merits of a dispute. False, incomplete, abusive, or unclear notices may be declined or sent back for clarification where appropriate.
4. Review, restriction, and removal
After a notice is received, an editor may review the identified page, submission, comment, upload, image, video, embed, or link. We may temporarily remove or restrict access to material while reviewing a credible complaint. We may also preserve relevant records, ask for clarification, contact the contributor or uploader, or leave material available when the report does not establish a clear issue.
We do not promise a particular outcome or response time. A review can lead to removal, an edit, a link or embed change, a request for permission evidence, no change, or another resolution suited to the facts.
5. Counter-notices
If material was restricted because of a copyright complaint and you believe that action was mistaken, email trissscales@gmail.com with the subject “Copyright counter-notice.” Identify the material and its former URL, explain why you believe the restriction was mistaken, provide your contact details, confirm the accuracy of your statement and your authority to make it, and include a typed signature.
We will review a counter-notice and may contact the original reporter. This route does not guarantee restoration, a particular timeline, or a legal result. You may also need to contact the relevant hosting, platform, label, distributor, or other rights service directly.
6. Repeat-infringer handling
When records show repeated or serious rights problems, we may restrict future submissions, disable access to related accounts or material, end permissions, or take other reasonable editorial or operational steps. Decisions are made case by case, with attention to the available facts and applicable law.
7. Third-party material and limits
Some pages point to or embed services operated by other companies, including YouTube, Spotify, Substack, social platforms, and external artist or label sites. We cannot remove material from those services or control their policies. If the concern is hosted by a third party, report it to that service as well, and identify the exact Yaps page that links to or displays it so we can review our own presentation.
We may be unable to control copies, archives, screenshots, search caches, or shares made outside our services. Where possible, we can stop active promotion or remove the version we control.
8. Contact and legal review
Send electronic copyright notices, counter-notices, or questions to trissscales@gmail.com. This policy intentionally lists an electronic contact only. It does not create a physical mailing address, attorney relationship, or promise that every legal requirement applies to every dispute.
Please get legal review before relying on this policy. It is an operational publisher-safety guide, not legal advice, and should be tailored by a qualified attorney to the business, jurisdiction, and facts involved.
